(ISO/BT) TAPER

136
134

Constant clamping and de-clamping of tool holders damage the taper of the spindle. The accuracy of the machine is vastly dependent on the area of contact between the tool holder and ISO taper of the spindle shaft. This makes ISO taper grinding the most important yet a crucial & tedious process

Light face grinding is required to grind out irregularities and to maintain the distance between the face of the spindle shaft and the tool holder face grinding the most important yet a crucial & tedious process

DISC WASHERS

Multiple Dise washers are placed on the drawbar and are placed alternately inverted to each other to create tension for maintaining the pressure required to clamp the tool holder Being under such tension, these washers may undergo wear and tear over time or even break

BEARINGS

125
126

Two or multiple bearings may be required to be placed between the spindle shaft and the housing to provide smooth rotation of the spindle at very high RPM. They may get damaged due to accidents or heavy usage or during assembly or disassembly of the spindle

STRAIGHT BUSH

When the (ISO/BT) taper of the spindle shaft is severely damaged or has been grind multiple times, the taper’s surface hardness and the clamping pressure gets compromised. In such cases a bush is inserted in order to regain it

A stepped bush is inserted when there is not enough wall thickness available to insert a straight bush.

GRIPPER

  • Ball Type
129
127

A ball type gripper consists of multiple balls that clamp the pull stud connected to the tool holder. Constant usage may cause wear and tear to the balls of the chamfered holes leading to improper clamping of the toolholder.

  • Collet Type
128
131

A collet type gripper consists of four petals that clamp the pull stud connected to the tool holder. It can be damaged due to constant clamping and de-clamping of tool holders.

HOUSING BORE & O.D.

123
132

Spindle housing damages rarely occur in case of major accidents or during spindle assembly or disassembly. However, since the bearings sits between the housing and the spindle shaft rotating at high rpms, the accuracy of housing bore needs to be maintained.

PULL ROD

133
133

The pull rod also called as the drawbar is connected to the gripper and consists of disc washers to maintain the pressure required to clamp the pull stud and thereby the tool holder. Pull rod can generally get damaged due to heavy jerk or impact on the spindle.

SPACERS

130
135

Spacers are used to maintain required distance between bearings. They are generally damaged due to heavy impact on spindle or during disassembly of the spindle.
